Someone in Vancouver also mentioned going to Moab in passing saying that there is a base jumping festival there on American Thanksgiving. Two recommendations means it must be cool, right?
So we went and... HOLY SHIT WERE YOU EVER RIGHT!
Not only does it look EXACTLY like a scene from a roadrunner cartoon there were also such cool ass people there! Upon arriving we were told of a free Thanksgiving dinner at the hospital which we gladly went to and filled our bellies with warm home cooked food. Here we learned of a place called ~the fruit bowl~ which had a festival of some sort going on. More on this later. Then we went on a hike which I thankfully brought flashlights on as the sun went down real quick. Getting back to the van we met someone waiting for his friends to get back from a mountain bike ride. His friends were taking longer than expected and he was afraid they were lost in the dark. When they eventually showed up we were invited back to join their campsite which was in the desert in the middle of nowhere; exactly as you had described. The moon was almost full and the sky was clear, it was the brightest night sky I've ever seen with no lights around. Absolutely incredible.
Next we found the fruit bowl. There was in fact a thanksgiving festival going on here, not base jumping though, but highlineing. If you have any interest in looking it up its called GGBY and you can find all kinds of videos and things. I didn't take many pictures but here are the ones I do have. We did also get to see 2 base jumpers so that was pretty cool. Thanks for the recommendation, definitely want to go back sometime. Tell everyone at Hugh's I say hi, SV

Hey Steph!! Great to hear from you! It's always a great feeling when you throw yourself to the wind, and it takes you to the unexpected. I'm happy to hear that Moab whispered a little something in the breeze...

Are the people harnessed or is that pure balance?
